Dreams offer a limitless canvas for photographers to explore inner landscapes, surreal visions, and the creative process itself. Whether emerging from the subconscious, inspired by fantasy, or rooted in personal reflection, these images possess a unique ability to transport viewers beyond reality and into the unknown. For this exhibition, we seek photographs that embody the spirit of dreaming—images that are deeply personal, ethereal, mysterious, or even unsettling. We invite work that captures the blurred line between reality and fiction, bringing forth the magic, wonder, and complexity of the mind’s eye. The projects and artists selected from this call will be part of the central exhibition of the SCAN festival. It will be held at Tinglado 2 at the Port of Tarragona, from 10 October to 7 December 2025 Theme of projects: AQUA Water is vital to the survival of humans and all life on our planet, yet it is estimated that between 1.7 and 2.4 billion people will face water scarcity by 2050. Today, about 40% of the Earth’s surface is at risk of desertification. Seas and oceans contain 97% of the planet’s total water supply. At the same time, human-induced changes in the oceans are affecting the climate, marine ecosystems and coastal communities. More than 3 billion people depend directly on the resources of the oceans for their livelihoods. In addition, culture, spirituality, mythology and even leisure have been deeply linked to water: In religions such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism, water represents purification; in Native American cultures, it is a sacred element; in Greek mythology, the god Poseidon ruled the oceans; in some African cultures, water is a symbol of fertility and a dwelling place for spirits; in ancient Tarraco and throughout the Roman Empire, thermal baths were public baths with areas reserved for gymnastics or recreation; today, beaches, rivers, lakes and springs are areas of leisure and recreation virtually all over the world. For all these reasons, and with the aim of insisting on the value and transcendence of water for our planet, for our survival and that of ecosystems, this year we are dedicating the programme of the twelfth edition of TALENT LATENT to exploring the theme of water. Prizes: SCAN will produce the photographic prints in a reliable professional laboratory. The organisation will ask the selected authors for the photographic originals to produce the prints (they must be in digital format and of the highest possible quality). The SCAN curatorial team will decide on the production of the prints, their number, size and materials, and how they will be installed in the exhibition spaces. At the end of the exhibition, if the author has not informed the organisation of his/her wish to retrieve the copies produced, they will be destroyed. If they wish to retrieve them, the authors will bear the cost of shipping or collecting the works. Eligibility: Artists over the age of 18 of any nationality. The Penn Institute for Urban Research invites photographers and visual storytellers worldwide to participate in our ninth annual photo contest, Gather: The Power of Place-based Connection. This year, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we also celebrate the essential role cities play in bringing people together. Urban gathering takes countless forms: • In parks, where nature and community intertwine. • In the corridors of academia, where ideas ignite movements. • On festival streets, where music and culture weave a shared rhythm. • In stadiums, where strangers become allies in the thrill of the game. • Along transit lines, where millions share fleeting yet meaningful moments. • In demonstrations, where citizens speak out for their rights. • Around dinner tables, where food becomes the medium for connection. Cities thrive because they create environments that are active, innovative, and full of opportunities. Serendipitous encounters fuel productivity, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration. The richness of urban life depends on these moments of connection. What we’re looking for Submit your best photos or videos (1 minute or less) that capture how cities bring people together: To learn. Kreatív kompozíciók megannyi fotóstémán keresztül: a csillagok fényében meginduló békák hada, színpompás virágok, találkozások a titokzatos erdei szalonkával és a többi erdőlakóval. 2024-es munkái alapján Potyó Imre lett "A magyar természetfotó" nagydíjasa, az Arany Daru szobor tulajdonosa. Imre rendkívüli módon tud mesélni mind a fotózásról, mind a különleges természeti értékeinkről. A Duna-Ipoly Nemzeti Park Igazgatóság munkatársa, ahol környezeti nevelőként dolgozik a börzsönyi Hiúz Ház látogatóközpontban. Továbbá évek óta sikeresen szerepel a legkomolyabb nemzetközi természetfotós megmérettetéseken is. A világ legrangosabb pályázatán, a Wildlife Photographer of the Year-en például már 6 képét különdíjban részesítették, 2023-ban Dubajban pedig megnyerte a világ legnagyobb összdíjazású fotópályázatának fő kategóriáját. Ezek a megmérettetések számára azért kiemelten fontosak, mert az ezekhez kötődő vándorkiállítások, albumok és online hírek révén képei milliókat szólítanak meg és a különleges fajok története, viselkedése ezek segítségével a világ számos pontjára eljuthat. Kedvenc helyszínei a börzsönyi patakvölgyek és a gödi Duna-part. Kezdetben szinte minden érdekelte, az utóbbi években viszont főleg azokat a témákat keresi megszállottan, amelyek kevésbé ismertek még a természetfotósok előtt is. Időpont: 2025. március 27.18:00 Ajánlott korosztály: 9+ Időtartam: Az előadás 60 perces, az interaktív kérdezz-felelek rész kb 30 perc, amelyet sok kérdés esetén meghosszabbítunk. Beszélgetéssorozatunkban a Budapesttől távol dolgozó fotográfusok kerülnek fókuszba. A megbízásai mellett több hosszútávú projekten is dolgozik, melynek témái szorosan fűződnek saját életeseményeihez, élményeihez. Történetei középpontjában legfőképp hétköznapi emberek állnak: nők, anyák, gyerekek elbeszéléseit örökíti meg. Munkáiban fontos szerepet kap az intimitás, a család, a női lét kihívásai, az otthon, a mindennapi élet csendes részleteinek vizsgálata. Munkáit többször díjazták itthon és külföldön. A 37. Magyar Sajtófotó Pályázaton Hétköznapi élet sorozat kategóriában 2. helyezést, a 38. Magyar Sajtófotó Pályázaton Portré egyedi kategóriában 1. helyezést, a 42. Magyar Sajtófotó Pályázaton Hétköznapi élet sorozat kategóriában 1. helyezést ért el. A nemzetközi Documentary Family Awards pályázatán 2021-ben munkái elnyerték a zsűri különdíját. A gazdasági pályát maga mögött hagyva 2018-ben beiratkozott a MÚOSZ fotóriporteri képzésére. 2019 tavaszától félévig az Index.hu gyakornoka, 2019 novembertől az MTI külsős fotóriportere. Első komolyabb elismerést 2017-ben kapta a Habitat for Humanity „Hon-vágy” című fotópályázatán (3. helyezett). A 41. Magyar Sajtófotó Pályázaton Sport sorozat kategóriában 2. díjat nyert, A 42.
CONFERENCE: European Kinship – Eastern European Perspective↴ How can Eastern Europeanism be defined? What is it that is distinctively its own, that binds the peoples who live here and share a common history and geography? And what are the global solutions to local specificities? Or what and how does all this become one in Euro-ness? What are the trends towards deeper European integration and more international cooperation? And how do they affect artistic-photographic practices dealing with the world around us, its phenomena, its effects, and the related feelings and problems? 📸 1956: Odüsszeia – Ata Kandó személyes és kollektív történetei 1956 nem csupán Magyarország történetének egyik mérföldköve, hanem Ata Kandó életében is meghatározó év volt. Miközben folytatta megrendelésre készített munkáit, két jelentős, ma projektként meghatározható munkába is belekezdett. Kurátor: Csizek Gabriella, a Capa Központ kurátora Erdei Krisztina 📸 Bertien van Manen, Téli utazás - Budapest 1975 Bertien Van Manen a nemzetközi dokumentarista fotó meghatározó alakja.
