Egyáltalán mitől kortárs a kortárs? Ezekre és ehhez hasonló kérdésekre keressük a választ neves szakemberekkel, művészettörténészekkel, kurátorokkal és esztétákkal. Ez alkalommal Mélyi József művészettörténész előadásában a kortárs művészet egyik legprovokatívabb és legmeghatározóbb aspektusával foglalkozunk: a botránnyal. Mi számíthat botrányosnak a művészet világában? Sinkovits Ede gondolataival búcsúzunk a tárlattól. https://www.facebook.com/events/1160007928509683/

Zahra Fuladvand - Lányom / Én / Anyám Kiállításmegnyitó, filmvetítés, performansz: 2025. március 11. 18:00 - 20:00 A kiállítást megnyitja: dr.habil Varga Tünde Mariann A kiállítás megtekinthető: 2025. március 11-14. A halál jelenségével való személyes találkozáson túl Zahra Fuladvand a rituális szertartások társadalmi aspektusát kutatta a Magyar Képzőművészeti Egyetemen folytatott DLA tanulmányai során (2017-2022). Most, majdnem öt év elteltével, a „Lányom / Én / Anyám” című performanszban egy új réteggel bővül a téma kontextusa. DLA-dolgozatának címe „Közösség, hely és környezet a rituális előadásban”. www.artselfreflection.com Helyszín: ISBN+, 1085 Budapest, Baross u. 42. www.isbnbooks.hu // Zahra Fuladvand - My daughter/me/My mom Exhibition opening, film screening, performance: 11 March 2025 18:00 - 20:00 Opening speech: dr.habil Tünde Mariann Varga Exhibition open: 11-14 March 2025. There are good and bad critical moments in our lives that we have to learn to navigate, such as having a baby, getting married, or the death of a loved one who depends on us. Death is a natural part of life that we will all inevitably face. We can choose to ignore it, or confront the prospect and reflect on it. Death serves as a mirror that reflects on the entire meaning of life. In addition to her personal encounter with the phenomenon of death, Zahra Fuladvand researched the social aspect of rituals during her DLA studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (2017-2022). For her as an Iranian artist, funeral ritual is a means to explore and articulate the relationships between herself and others, and between herself and death. It is a language, as opposed to biological communication, of ancient gestures that humanity has historically transformed into the complex patterns we call ritual. The series of photographs and video documentation presented in the exhibition are the result of the performance "Darkness Before Birth and After Death", which was shown at the Artus Studio as part of the exhibition "UNSEEN...UNHEARD...UNSPOKEN" in May 2019. This performance was inspired by an Iranian funeral ceremony. Subsequently, Fuladvand with the help of Dr. habil Judit Csanádi, developed a new narrative about the encounter and perception of death through three visual panels and three stories, entitled "Me, Death, Ritual", which was exhibited at the Három Hét Gallery in 2020. Now, after almost five years, the performance "My daughter/me/My mom" adds a new layer to the context of the theme. About This Project: Creator: Zahra Fuladvand Curator: dr.habil Tünde Mariann Varga Photographer: Dr. Csanádi Gábor Camera and Video Editor: Manuel F. Contreras My daughter/me/My mom Performers: Zsofia Jozifek Anna Kecskes Reka Toth Bernat About the Artist: Zahra Fuladvand is an Iranian visual artist researching and studying pre-existing natural spaces for performative arts. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Tehran Art University. Recently, she earned her PhD from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts DLA school, where she held the Hungaricum Stipendium scholarship for five years. During her DLA studies, she began exploring unconventional environments in her art practices. Performing in Metro Line 2 in Budapest ("The Mirror," 2019), as well as performing on the street in front of her previous building ("280 Days," 2020), and creating the video art "14 Days" (2019), shot in a hospital room, are parts of her journey to explore the relationship between audiences in non-theatrical environments and performance. We are thrilled to announce a new collaborative exhibition with B-Part Exhibition in Berlin! For our last exhibition of the year, we invite artists to take part in a group show at B-Part Exhibition, the gallery curated by Loop Raum in Berlin in August 2025. Theme: DE-CONSTRUCTED What does it mean to deconstruct in an era of continual transformation where change has become our only constant? As traditional boundaries blur and certainties dissolve, we find ourselves simultaneously witnessing and participating in the perpetual dismantling and rebuilding of meaning. This dialectic between destruction and creation, between fragmentation and wholeness, opens new pathways for artistic exploration. We invite photographers to engage with the theme « de-constructed » through the approach that lies at the heart of their own personal practice: whether by focusing on the architectural nature of transitional spaces, or by examining social structures, where photography becomes a tool to witness the dissolution of traditional hierarchies and the emergence of new forms of community and connection. A more personal approach offers ground for investigating moments of vulnerability and reformation, where identity itself becomes fluid and subject to reconstruction. Visual experimentation with photographic processes mirrors our fragmentary experience of contemporary reality, while cultural deconstruction invites us to question inherited narratives and challenge established ways of seeing. Memory and time themselves could also become subjects for deconstruction, exploring how photographs can simultaneously preserve and transform our understanding of the past. Embracing this multiplicity of approaches and others yet unexplored, we welcome works that challenge conventional perspectives, revealing how photography can deconstruct and reconstruct our perception of reality. Prizes: Exhibition opportunity, publication in the exhibition catalog + online exposure Eligibility: The competition is open to any photographer, 18 years of age or older, from any country. Copyrights & Usage Rights: All images and texts provided by artists and presented on PEP's website and social media channels are protected by copyright and remain property of their author. By entering this competition, you allow PEP to use your artwork (images and related text) in its online communication and printed material. PEP has the right to use the submitted artworks on its website and on any other form of communication (including social media, magazines, platforms for art opportunities and events...) to promote the photographers' works and PEP's past, current and future exhibitions and open calls. The artists' names will always be mentioned next to their respective images. Theme: Open Theme Deadline: 2 April 2025 Entry fee: 5 to 15€ Website: http://www.pep.photography/calls Forrás
Independent & Image Art Space (Chongqing, China) is happy to announce a group exhibition open call “Urban Landscape". This exhibition open call for submissions aims to explore and present the diversity and complexity of modern urban environments through the unique perspective of photography. We invite artists to focus on the multiple facets of urban spaces, including their form, structure, and transformation, capturing a range of scenes from bustling streets to quiet corners, and from modern architecture to historical landmarks. Through these works, we seek to showcase the physical characteristics of urban environments while delving into how human activity shapes these spaces, reflecting societal changes, cultural diversity, and the interplay of individual emotions. Photographers are encouraged to capture seemingly ordinary urban moments, conveying a visual language filled with tension and rhythm. These images will invite the audience to reexamine the everyday elements of the city, uncovering the subtle emotions and meanings often overlooked in the details and imagery. In doing so, artists will not only showcase the external forms of urban landscapes but also reveal the dynamic relationship between humans and the city through photographic language, reflecting the cultural depth and continuous transformation of urban life. This exhibition aims to provoke deep reflection on urban environments, presenting not only their physical transformations but also exploring the underlying social, cultural, and emotional layers. Through these visual works, we hope to uncover the subtle connection between humanity and the urban landscape, examining the multiple dimensions of the city as a microcosm of society and culture. Prizes: Selected artworks will be printed (Epson giclée print) and framed by us and shown in the group exhibition; Chinese-English bilingual online feature on our website; Chinese-English bilingual digital catalog; Chinese-English bilingual promotion on Chinese and international social media. Eligibility: Artists are invited to submit 1-10 photography works responding to the theme, without limit to genres and techniques. Copyrights & Usage Rights: The artist retains the sole copyright for the images; Submitted images can be available for public viewing on our website and social media, including in relation to promotional activities for the exhibition; All display images will be credited with the artist's name.
