There are many ways to obtain an aerial perspective! We've all been to the top of a tall building or looked down from a mountain top, but when we talk about aerial photography, most people will think of planes, helicopters and drones. Like all aspects of photography, there are many different ways of doing things. Similarly, some photographers love to capture the natural world from the air and represent it as closely as they can to what they saw. Others like to create fabricated aerials from the imagination of their mind, with the majority of us sitting somewhere in the middle, using post-production to refine our captures. At the International Aerial Photographer of the Year awards, we believe there are many ways photographers can create inspiring, exciting and diverse aerial photographs. It's not up to us to tell you how to be a photographer. In fact, we want to be surprised and astonished by some real locations and creative fabrications together. That's why we will put together a collection which proudly presents the best 101 aerial photographs. Within those winning images will be something for everyone that represents all styles, genres and approaches to aerial photography. We have no categories and really the only rule is that you can't use AI to generate content. We want to see what you have personally captured or created. Prizes: Like our sister International Landscape Photographer of the Year award, the main aim is for you to have one or more of your entries accepted into the Top 101 aerial photographs of the year. This gives you a place in our exclusive book which is published online and can be purchased as a 'real' hard-cover paper publication as well. There is a total of US$10,000 in cash prizes and printed copies of the book for the major prize winners. First Prize Cash prize of US $5000, trophy, inclusion and feature in the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book, a printed copy of the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book. Second Prize Cash prize of US $500, trophy, inclusion in the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book, a printed copy of the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book. Third Prize Cash prize of US $250, trophy, inclusion in the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book, a printed copy of the International Aerial Photographer of the Year Awards Book, and a NiSi 100mm V7 Starter Kit (valued at $529 USD). What is analogue photography in 2025? This year, analogueNOW wants to closely examine the state of analogue photography today, why and how it has survived digital photography, the contemporary forms it is taking, how it is (regularly) reinventing itself and what real impact it has on the environment. We will investigate aspects of the analogue world that are sometimes somewhat overlooked. Let’s look behind the scenes and under the carpet for an update on dusty stories and toxic processes. We want to incorporate this curiosity into the theme of this year’s exhibition and invite artists to submit works that explore the hidden, overlooked, and suppressed. This year’s open call, „Under the Rug,” calls for images that delve into what society, individuals, or institutions choose to hide—whether it’s secrets, personal truths, cultural taboos, or forgotten stories. This open call is an opportunity to visually examine the layers beneath the surface, revealing what is often ignored or intentionally concealed. Works can be interpretative or documentary, intimate or expansive, but must utilize at least one analogue technique, including film photography, darkroom processes, or other hands-on methods. Let us uncover the unseen and bring it to light—tell us what’s been swept under the rug. Prizes: Exhibition space: Fotogalerie Friedrichshain, Berlin Exhibition Dates: 24.05.25 – 27.06.25 Eligibility: A PDF document with your personal info (full name, location, email, website/instagram), a short bio (up to 50 words) and a brief artist statement on your contribution (up to 150 words) Copyrights & Usage Rights: - Theme: Film Deadline: 12 March 2025 Entry fee: 12€ per submitted project Website: Forrás
Submissions have opened for the sixth Rebecca Vassie Memorial Award for emerging photographers, which includes a cash bursary of £2,000. The award, which funds an early-career photographer in the UK to undertake a new narrative photography project, also includes mentorship and support towards industry and public exposure. In addition, up to twelve longlisted applicants will join the trust’s Development Network, through which they become eligible for a series of smaller grants later this year. Judges for the award include Caroline Hunter (picture editor, Guardian Saturday magazine), Emma Lynch (picture editor, BBC News Online) and Jennifer Thatcher (critic, curator and lecturer). The award was created in memory of Rebecca Vassie, a British photographer and photojournalist who died suddenly, aged 30, while on assignment in Uganda in March 2015. This year’s award marks the tenth anniversary of Rebecca’s death; this announcement comes days after she would have turned 40. The winner of the award will receive ongoing support and mentorship from the Trust as they enact their winning proposal, as well as a portfolio review and mentorship from Karen Harvey MBE, founder and director of Shutter Hub. Prizes: Candidates longlisted for this year’s award gain access to the Rebecca Vassie Trust’s Development Network, which disburses small grants towards project development, professional training and public workshops delivered by network members, with special focus on creating education or enrichment opportunities for young people and marginalised communities. The Trust offers shortlisted candidates additional support-in-kind such as networking opportunities and online exhibition. Eligibility: Applicants for the award, who must be either from or based in the UK, are asked to submit a proposal setting out a compelling vision for a narrative photography project with a social or political context. This exhibit explores the evocative theme of abandoned architecture and the traces left by humanity. We seek to showcase images that reveal the stories etched into architectural spaces and the objects left behind—the marks, structures, and artifacts that speak to our histories and inspire contemplation. From crumbling factories and forgotten homes to discarded tools and personal belongings, these remnants of human presence evoke a sense of time’s passage and humanity’s impermanence. This is a call to preserve these fleeting spaces and objects through photography before they fade, rot, or crumble into obscurity. PhotoPlace gallery would like to support those affected by wildfires in LA with a donation of 10% of submission fees for the exhibit. We are honored to have Aline Smithson as juror for Ruins and Remnants. She will select up to 35 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 images for our Online Gallery. All 75 images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog and remain permanently on our website, and be promoted on social media with links to photographer’s URL. Prizes: 35 images selected for gallery exhibition, 40 images selected for online exhibition Eligibility: Open to all photographers 18 and up Copyrights & Usage Rights: Artist rights: You retain all rights to your work. Our mission is to promote photographers and photography in general; we will never exploit your work or use it without your permission. Mindez a határok újraírását, a szabályok felrúgását, a jól bevett sémák elutasítását is jelenti, jó esetben mindezt kortárs közösségben megélve. Szembe menni, ellenszegülni, lázadni kamaszkorban létszükséglet, ez konfliktust generál az idősebb generációkkal szemben, szélsőséges esetekben elidegenüléshez, a párbeszéd megszakadásához vezethet. Mik jellemezték a nyolcvanas, kilencvenes évek marginalizálódó fiataljait, hogyan szórakoztak, hogyan fejezték ki önmagukat és mi jellemzi ezzel szemben a mai kor fiatal generációját. Vannak-e ismétlődő mintázatok az egyes generációk kamaszkori tapasztalásai mögött, hányszor lehet újra írni a lázadás hangjait? Ezekre a kérdésekre keressük a választ a DokuMa következő beszélgetésén Martin Wanda, Szabó Emma és Bánkuti András fotográfusokkal. Beszélgetés Martin Wanda, Szabó Emma és Bánkuti András fotográfusokkal Beszélgetőtárs: Kopin Katalin, a Capa Központ kurátora Időpont: 2025. február 27., csütörtök, 18 óra Helyszín: Capa Központ, Rendezvényterem Az eseményen való részvétel ingyenes. A sorozat célkitűzése a hazai dokumentarista fotográfia hosszútávú kutatása és láthatóvá tétele. A DokuMa projekt során a magyar dokumentarista fotográfia fiatal és középnemzedékéhez tartozó alkotóinak fotóesszéit mutatjuk be egy-egy téma mentén. A beszélgetés során a szélesebb közönséget is beavatjuk a fotográfusok által végzett háttérmunkába, a koncepciótól az alkotói módszerig, a téma elindításától a megvalósításig nyomon követve egy-egy projektet. A beszélgetéssorozat terveink szerint megrajzolja a dokumentarista fotográfia jelenét, főbb tendenciáit, kihívásait, mozgásterét, befogadói közegét és egyúttal teret és lehetőséget nyújt a bemutatkozásra, a közös gondolkodásra és a közönséggel való interakcióra. A DokuMa sorozat arra is kísérletet tesz, hogy a dokumentarizmus átalakuló, egyre szélesebben értelmezhető keretrendszerét vizsgálva kitapintsa annak határterületeit, rámutatva arra a jelenségre, hogy egyre közelebb kerül a valóságot autentikus látványokon keresztül értelmezni és rendszerezni kívánó riportfotó a képzőművészeti, autonóm alkotói fotográfiához, ezáltal gyakran feloldódni látszik a két műfaj közötti határ. https://www.facebook.com/events/930568835891441/
MESTERKEDÉS NÉLKÜL - Révai Ilka portréi Gáspár Balázs muzeológus, fotótörténész tárlatvezetése a Hiányzó tekintet – Révai Ilka elfeledett életműve című kiállításon Révai Ilka a huszadik századi magyar fotográfia egyik elfeledett, ugyanakkor izgalmas, kísérletező alkotója. A MOME-n 2002-től tanít. A Műkritikusok Nemzetközi Szövetsége (AICA) Magyar Tagozat elnökségének 2016 óta tagja, két cikluson át elnöke. Kritikusi tevékenységét 2009-ben Németh Lajos-díjjal, 2013-ban Opus Mirabile díjjal, 2019-ben a Horváth Béla Művészeti Alapítvány műkritikusi díjával ismerték el. Időpont: 2025. február 26., szerda, 17 óra Helyszín: Capa Központ, Rendezvényterem Az eseményen való részvétel ingyenes. 2022-ben új beszélgetéssorozatotot indított a Capa Központ ELŐHÍVÁS címmel.
Híresen rossz időjárása, közel hétezer méteres magassága a magashegyi expedíciózás színtjére emeli megmászását. https://www.facebook.com/events/1948651102326474/

A párizsi művészvilág portréfotósává vált illetve a Dior Divatház is vele örökíttette meg "New Look" stílusát. "A nevem Jakab Lóránt Gyergyószentmiklóson élek. 2008 óta foglalkozom komolyabban a fotózással.
