A hó jelenléte a tájban a múlt elrejtett titkait szimbolizálja. Sorstragédiáikkal nemcsak őt, hanem a 20. századi Kelet-Európa történelmét is képviselik. A névváltoztatások, a gyermekkori emlékek és a felnőttek által elhallgatott tragédiák mind részei ennek a komplex, transzgenerációs vizuális elbeszélésnek. Emőke képei bemutatják, hogyan él tovább a múlt, és hogyan befolyásolják a családi történetek a jelenünket. Bio/ Kerekes Emőke 1980-ban született Romániában, Erdélyben, ahol családjával a helyi magyar kisebbséghez tartozik. További információk az alkotóról: www.emokekerekes.com https://www.kopiakollektiva.com ENG/ Emőke Kerekes: Iosif, Alexe, Kolomán - Kiállításmegnyitó Opening: 2024. 1st October., 19:00 We are pleased to invite you to Kerekes Emőke’s photo exhibition, “Iosif, Alexe, Kolomán,” which will open on October 1, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Foton Gallery in Budapest. This exhibition is not only about a photographer's family story, but also an invitation to embark on a deeper journey exploring memory, beliefs, and transgenerational processes. Emőke’s photographs reveal the remaining historical layers and traces of the Transylvanian landscape, where snow serves not just as an aesthetic element, but carries a deeper message. The presence of snow in the landscape symbolizes the hidden secrets of the past. The white, empty landscapes remind us not only of our losses but also of the fact that memory is often selective and unreliable; it distorts, highlights, or conceals, constantly shaping and reinterpreting the past. In her work, this concept reflects not only the artist's personal history but also broader aspects of collective memory, making the white landscapes a multi-layered visual expression of processing memory and history. Throughout the project, Emőke shares stories about her working-class peasant roots, her uncle, grandfather, father, and other family members. Their tragic destinies represent not only her own but also the history of 20th-century Eastern Europe. Name changes, childhood memories, and the tragedies silenced by adults are all part of this complex, transgenerational visual narrative. Emőke’s images showcase how the past lives on and how family stories influence our present. Bio/ Kerekes Emőke was born in 1980 in Transylvania, Romania, where she and her family belong to the local Hungarian minority. After the Romanian Revolution of 1989, she emigrated to Hungary with her family in 1992, growing up in Budapest. In 2015 she returned to her homeland, Havadtő (Viforoasa), where she and her husband founded the KopiaKollektiva Association. The association promotes contemporary photography and film culture in culturally marginalised small villages. After completing her bachelor's degree in photography at the Moholy-Nagy University (MOME), she graduated from the Târgu Mures University of Arts (UAT) in 2024 with a Master's degree in Arts and New Media. During his teaching career, he taught photography theory and practice in Budapest and Cluj-Napoca. |HUN| A Kiscelli Múzeum szeretettel várja az érdeklődőket a LUGO: Á.R.A.M.L.Á.S című kiállításának megnyitójára. . . A kiállítás megnyitó eseménye: SZEMZŐ Tibor kinematográfikus koncertje . A kiállítás koncepciója: KURDY FEHÉR János . A kiállítás kurátorai: BÁN András, DANÓ Orsolya, KURDY FEHÉR János, LUGOSI Blanka, RADICS Panka . A kiállítás október 27-ig látogatható . |ENG| The Kiscelli Museum cordially invites you and your friends to the opening of the next exhibition, LUGO: F.L.O.W. . F.L.O.W. is the personal Budapest archives of László Lugosi Lugo. It is an exploration of meaning in photography and spatial installation. A view blending the visible and the invisible Budapest. It is an eventful introduction to and presentation/representation of the potential in the photographs, staging the photographer’s making and developing of meaning by way of the installation of the chiaroscuro architecture at the heart of the processes of photography. According to the curatorial concept, on one hand, the individual photographic pictures highlight and document and thus preserve the space and time of the events recorded, and on the other hand, the successive and simultaneous projection of the photographs blurs the concrete space-time, creating a larger, new paradigm, just as documents preserved in archives do as they interact with each other towards a greater totality. . The exhibition can be visited until October 27 . Opening event: Cinematographer Tibor SZEMZŐ’s concert . Concept of the exhibition: KURDY FEHÉR János . The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper. – W.B. Yeats In our rush through life, we often overlook the extraordinary that lies within the ordinary — the beauty, poignancy, and simple poetic elegance so commonly found in ordinary moments: Random objects that appear in perfect symmetry. Human moments that define our humanity. Light that falls elegantly on a subject to perfectly describe it. With your work and your eye, show us the extraordinary beauty that lies all around us in ordinary moments. All captures and processes are welcome. We are very pleased that Blue Mitchell will be jurying and curating this exhibition. He will select approximately 35 images for the Exhibition Gallery, and 40 more for our Online Gallery. All 75 images will be featured on social media, displayed in the exhibit catalog, and remain permanently on our website with photographer's URL. The notion of home transcends conventional meanings and interpretations. Beyond its physical manifestation as a shelter, home unfolds as a dynamic concept that resonates across the human experience. It embodies not only a tangible space but also a repository of emotions, memories, and a sense of belonging. Yet the concept of home is not without its complexities. The exploration of home involves an introspective journey, unraveling layers of meaning and confronting the nuances of attachment and detachment, personal growth, and familial conflict. Transience or instability can evoke feelings of displacement, making it difficult for individuals to perceive the home as a nurturing space. Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographic art that explores the idea, space, or memory of home. A broad interpretation of the theme is encouraged. All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission. Prizes: Up to 38 images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. A Directors’ Choice and five Honorable Mentions will be awarded and featured in the exhibition, the printed show catalog, and the online exhibit gallery. Directors’ Choice receives free entry into three juried calls of their choice and a complimentary exhibit book. Eligibility: International. All Welcome Copyrights & Usage Rights: Artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose photographs are accepted for exhibition grant Praxis Gallery the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital files for the purpose of the exhibition, promoting the artist, promoting related programs and subsequent display on Praxis Gallery's website, social media, and online exhibition archives. The artist's name will be included wherever the photographs are displayed. We are thrilled to announce a new collaboration between PEP and Kommunale Galerie Berlin! Selected artists will take part in a group exhibition in March 2025 as part of EMOP, the European Month of Photography in Berlin. Theme: Parallel Realities Originally conceived as a tool to represent the world around us, photography ultimately provides a fragmented vision of it. Its dynamic ability to both reflect and shape reality places it in an ambiguous position in contemporary culture. Every photographic, documentative work carries fabricated narratives embedded in the editing, omitting, selecting processes. This phenomenon, combined with the new visual technologies partly fueled by AI learning, contributes to a growing sense of suspicion by the public towards images. On the other hand, the status of the photographer as an artist, with the freedom to interpret and recreate reality through their lens has become more and more recognised. With each image that they make, photographers not only capture but also contribute to the very fabric of the reality they seek to depict. This interplay of factual documentation and creative liberty, combined with the influence of the viewer and the context in which pictures are received, continually shapes the evolving relationship between photography and reality. Where do you situate your artistic practice in this context? Are you trying to represent certain realities that matter to you and that you think should be unveiled? Do you produce images reinforcing or challenging the public's certainties and representations of the world? Do you intentionally show your perception of the world in your images, telling the viewer as much about who you are as about the subject depicted - and therefore creating alternate ways to look at reality? What is the relationship of the viewer with your photographs? Do they act as a separation or as a link that connects your respective experiences? Whatever your style or approach to photography, we are looking for works that show the coexistence of parallel realities, revealing the vibrant diversity of the world we inhabit and the multiple perceptions we have of it and inviting to open up and broaden our horizons. Participating artists will be selected through an international jury of artists and curators. The call is open to all ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Fees: Paid Prizes: Exhibition opportunity in a renown institution as part of a biennial international festival Publication in the exhibition catalog Online exposure Eligibility: The competition is open to any photographer, 18 years of age or older, from any country. Copyrights & Usage Rights: All images and texts provided by artists and presented on PEP's website and social media channels are protected by copyright and remain property of their author. By entering this competition, you allow PEP to use your artwork (images and related text) in its online communication and printed material. PEP has the right to use the submitted artworks on its website and on any other form of communication (including social media, magazines, platforms for art opportunities and events...) to promote the photographers' works and PEP's past, current and future exhibitions and open calls. The artists' names will always be mentioned next to their respective images. Theme: Open Theme Deadline: 5 November 2024 Website: http://www.pep.photography/calls Forrás

Call for Entry: "NO TITLES" Photography Exhibition We invite photographers to submit their work for our upcoming exhibition, "No Titles." This unique show challenges the conventional narrative framework by removing titles from the equation. The images will be presented without labels, allowing them to resonate purely through visual impact, emotion, and the viewer's personal interpretation. Theme: The absence of titles encourages a raw, unfiltered connection between the viewer and the artwork. We are seeking photographs that speak for themselves, evoking thoughts, emotions, and stories without the influence of words. The imagery should be compelling enough to stand alone, transcending place, time, and explanation. Submission Guidelines: - Eligibility: Open to photographers internationally over 18 at all levels and backgrounds. - Work: Submit up to 10 images that you believe capture the essence of the "No Titles" theme. - Presentation: All submitted photographs must be untitled. Just include your name and a number to identify the image. Example: “Sarah-Smith_01” - Format: JPEG or JPG, 72 dpi, minimum size 2100 px on the longest side. - Entry Fee: $20 for up to 4 images, $4 for each additional image. BONUS: Pay for 8 images and get two more entries for free. - Deadline: All entries must be received by October 31. - Exhibition Dates: November 15 through December 31. Selection Process: Our panel of curators will review submissions and select works that best embody the spirit of the exhibition. CONTEST THEME: "Shining a Light: Iconic Women, from Everyday Life to Global Heroes” Icon (noun) - a person or thing widely admired especially for having great influence or significance in a particular sphere. Throughout recorded history, women have been forced to live within systems that actively work to suppress them. According to a 2020 study by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, gender-based inequalities that limit women’s access to education, secure and durable housing, and ownership of property directly result in an in overrepresentation of women in impoverished urban areas around the world. Contrarily, when the opposite occurs and women are empowered to pursue educational opportunities and take on leadership roles, individuals and communities around them benefit exponentially. Despite global progress toward a more just and equitable world, the United Nations Women organization cites a “lackluster commitment to gender equality” as the number one reason that the 17 Sustainable Development Goals will not be met by 2030. To usher in a new wave of progress and empower women globally, the world must recognize women fighting for change, locally and internationally. We invite photographers, amateur and professional, to submit photographs that illustrate the various ways in which women can be iconic and create change for good in their communities and beyond. This contest will accept photographs that illustrate the following themes: - The direct, positive effect women have on their families and communities. - Women performing acts to make the world a better place, for themselves and for others. - Women professionals in fields that are typically deemed “male dominant.” - Internationally known contemporary and historical women leaders, inventors, educators, and advocates. - Lesser-known contemporary and historical women leaders, inventors, educators, and advocates. A few examples of internationally iconic women: - Mother Teresa - Albanian-Indian Catholic nun and the founder of the Missionaries of Charity, widely regarded as one of the most notable humanitarians in history. - Malala Yousafzai - Pakistani female education activist and the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate at the age of 17. She is the youngest Nobel Prize laureate in history, the second Pakistani and the only Pashtun to receive a Nobel Prize. - Amelia Earhart – American women’s rights activist and the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Fees: Free Prizes: 1st Prize — $1000 2nd Prize — $750 3rd Prize — $500 Eligibility: Anyone, amateur and professional photographers of any age. Copyrights & Usage Rights: By submitting a photograph, you grant the Muhammad Ali Center the right to display, publish, and/or use the photograph and your name on its websites, social media platforms, and at other venues for an indefinite period, with appropriate credit given.
