The global photography community today celebrates the official launch of the Photojournalism Prize (PJP), a groundbreaking new award dedicated to honoring the world’s most compelling editorial and documentary photography. After a soft introduction earlier this year at the Lucie Awards in Ostuni, Italy, the Prize now takes center stage at the DOK Festival of Photojournalism in Fredrikstad, Norway. Founded by Hossein Farmani - the visionary behind the International Photography Awards and the Lucie Awards - the Prize shines a spotlight on visual journalists who bring context, courage, and humanity to urgent global stories. Categories span breaking news, feature reporting, and in-depth photo essays, with all entries judged through a blind process by an international jury of respected editors, curators, and industry leaders. “Photojournalism is not only an art form - it is an essential act of truth-telling,” said Farmani. “With this award, we honor photographers who risk much to ensure that critical stories are seen and remembered.” That mission is echoed by Hannah Lillethun, Program Director of the Prize, who added: “Photojournalists are often the first to show us what is happening, yet too often their contributions are overlooked. This Prize affirms their work as indispensable—acts of courage, resistance, and accountability in a time when we need them most.” The launch at DOK Festival underscores that vision. As one of Europe’s leading gatherings for documentary and journalistic photography, the Festival brings together photographers, editors, scholars, and the public to explore the power and responsibility of visual storytelling. Introducing PJP within this context underscores its goal: to elevate photography as both a record of truth and a catalyst for change. The COTM | BarTur Grant was created for photographers who carry a story not only in their imagination, but in their daily effort, those who have already invested their own time, resources, and heart into bringing a vision to life. Developed in collaboration with Cortona On The Move, this international award honors visual storytellers who push the medium forward through courage, curiosity, and steadfast commitment. We believe every photographer has a project that won't let them go - an idea they have nurtured, returned to, and pursued as far as they could on their own. The COTM | BarTur Grant exists to meet them at that threshold, offering the support needed to take that work further: to refine, complete, and elevate a story already born from dedication. This grant celebrates photography shaped by authorship and intention, grounded in cultural resonance, and expressed through a clear, fearless point of view. It is an invitation for committed storytellers to step deeper into their vision and bring long-imagined projects to their fullest realization. Prizes: - $30,000 Grand Prize: Awarded to one professional photographer. - Two $5,000 Prizes: Awarded to two emerging photographers under 30. Photographers are invited to submit proposals for in-progress documentary projects that align with the fund’s central themes. The grand prize winner will be announced at Cortona On The Move Festival in July 2026. They will have nine months to complete their project, with the final work submitted by 15th March 2027. The completed work will be exhibited at Cortona On The Move in July 2027, offering a global stage to amplify their story.
Beszélgetés Melegh Noémi Napsugár, Tihanyi Anna és Tuboly-Vincze Gabriella fotográfusokkal Beszélgetőtárs: Kopin Katalin, a Capa Központ kurátora Időpont: 2026. március 24, kedd, 18 óra Helyszín: Capa Központ, Rendezvényterem Az eseményen való részvétel ingyenes. A sorozat célkitűzése a hazai dokumentarista fotográfia hosszútávú kutatása és láthatóvá tétele. A DokuMa projekt során a magyar dokumentarista fotográfia fiatal és középnemzedékéhez tartozó alkotóinak fotóesszéit mutatjuk be egy-egy téma mentén. A beszélgetés során a szélesebb közönséget is beavatjuk a fotográfusok által végzett háttérmunkába, a koncepciótól az alkotói módszerig, a téma elindításától a megvalósításig nyomon követve egy-egy projektet. A beszélgetéssorozat terveink szerint megrajzolja a dokumentarista fotográfia jelenét, főbb tendenciáit, kihívásait, mozgásterét, befogadói közegét és egyúttal teret és lehetőséget nyújt a bemutatkozásra, a közös gondolkodásra és a közönséggel való interakcióra. A DokuMa sorozat arra is kísérletet tesz, hogy a dokumentarizmus átalakuló, egyre szélesebben értelmezhető keretrendszerét vizsgálva kitapintsa annak határterületeit, rámutatva arra a jelenségre, hogy egyre közelebb kerül a valóságot autentikus látványokon keresztül értelmezni és rendszerezni kívánó riportfotó a képzőművészeti, autonóm alkotói fotográfiához, ezáltal gyakran feloldódni látszik a két műfaj közötti határ. https://www.facebook.com/events/899362549366274/
SNI-vel érintett kortárs előadóművész fellépőkkel és prominens személyek bevonásával a beadott rajzokból 2 hetes tárlat kerül megrendezésre, melynek nyitányára rövid műsorral és ünnepséggel várjuk az érdeklődőket. A kiállítás megtekinhető a Pro Kultúra Sopron Aulájában (Sopron, Liszt F. u. 1.)
Allora Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for our upcoming online group exhibition, "Small Wonders." We are open to submissions from photographers of all levels and backgrounds.
