SILVER - Varga Tamás fotográfus kiállítása Archív
31 Oct 2024

SILVER - Varga Tamás fotográfus kiállítása 2024. október 31. – november 21. A kiállításon a legfontosabb projektjeimből látható válogatás, lehámozom a bő 10 év rétegeit.

Open Call - Exhibition In China Expressionist Photography Archív
30 Oct 2024

Independent & Image Art Space (Chongqing, China) is happy to announce a group exhibition open call "Expressionist Photography". Expressionist Photography, as a photographic style, typically originates from the artist's subjective emotions and inner experiences, emphasizing the portrayal of inner feelings, states of mind, and psychological landscapes through images rather than merely adhering to objective reality. This style of photography often employs exaggerated lighting effects, unconventional compositions, stark contrasts in tones, or techniques such as blurring and distortion to convey an emotional experience that transcends reality, resulting in a powerful visual impact. In the history of photography, early expressionist tendencies can be traced back to the early 20th century, when German Expressionist cinema influenced photography. In contemporary photography, many artists also adopt expressionist techniques. We invite artists from around the world who create in this style to participate in the exhibition, using the language of the lens to break away from direct representations of reality, showcasing individualized emotional expression and visual tension. Prizes: FOR SELECTED ARTIST Artworks will be printed (Epson giclée print) and framed by us and shown in the group exhibition; Chinese-English bilingual online feature on our website; Chinese-English bilingual digital catalog; Chinese-English bilingual promotion on Chinese and international social media. Eligibility: Artists are invited to submit 1-10 photography works responding to the theme, without limit to genres and techniques. Copyrights & Usage Rights: The artist retains the sole copyright for the images; Submitted images can be available for public viewing on our website and social media, including in relation to promotional activities for the exhibition; All display images will be credited with the artist's name. Discovery Award 2025 Louis Roederer Foundation Archív
30 Oct 2024

The Rencontres d'Arles is opening its call for applications for the 2025 Discovery Award, part of the festival's 56th edition. The award's aim is to promote the work of the selected artists, who will be showcased in the Discovery Award exhibition; and to reward the winning projects with the jury award of €15,000 and public award of €5,000. Since 2021, the Rencontres d'Arles Discovery Award has integrated organizations that foster emerging artists—community spaces, independent exhibition sites, artist-run spaces, hybrid exhibition spaces, galleries, institutions, foundations—that clear the ground for, identify, and support artists. These organizations, important actors in supporting photography and artists, thus become mediators and discoverers, introducing to the Discovery Award artists whose work they have identified and followed. These organizations are invited to propose an exhibition project by an artist they support whose work has recently been discovered or deserves to be seen by an international audience. Projects selected for exhibition in the 2025 edition of the Rencontres d'Arles, in the Discovery Award exhibition, will be accompanied by the festival team and an exhibition curator invited by the Rencontres d'Arles. Prizes: During opening week, a jury selected by the festival will determine the jury award, which rewards an artist and the artist's supporting organization by an acquisition of artworks in the amount of €15,000; festival visitors will determine the public award, which rewards an artist and the artist's supporting organization by an acquisition of artworks in the amount of €5,000. Eligibility: We accept grant proposals from artists, curators, cultural organizations, and biennials for the production, exhibition, public dissemination and institutional acquisition of new works of art and ideas, with a particular emphasis on works mounted beyond traditional exhibition environments. Phodar Biennial - 2025 Archív
30 Oct 2024

The 13th consecutive edition of the "Fodar" International Photo Festival Biennale is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the "Fodar" Foundation. Its theme is "Photographic Reality". It was provoked by the increasingly rapid democratization and wide distribution of the photographic image. If 30 years ago photography was the most accessible technology for creating images and its fields of application expanded exponentially, becoming a leader in the field of visual arts, today practically everyone who has a mobile phone takes pictures. The development of social networks gives a new impetus to the creation and distribution of photographic images. It is no exaggeration to say that especially for the younger generations, the creation of digital images, online communication and life on the web is replacing the physical existence. The problem has many dimensions and ramifications, and the authors have a wealth of material for interpretations. Does virtual reality come into conflict with physical reality, or do they go together to new unsuspected horizons? And isn't photographic reality a new language with its own rules, vocabulary, syntax? Where is and will be the place of artificial intelligence in this problem space? Of course, in addition to social, photographic reality also has its historical, informational, and philosophical dimensions. This is the first topic that addresses so directly the problematic of the phenomenon of photography. Prizes: Grand Prize $2.000 Award for Humanistic Photography $600 Debut Award $600 Eligibility: Open for everyone. Copyrights & Usage Rights: We respect your intellectual property rights. Copyright of the images will remain at all times with the photographer. All entrants agree of the storage of their images in electronic form for the purpose of judging the competition and the private distribution of those images as required to complete the judging process. Finalist’s images as selected by the jury will be printed and mounted at the expense of the PHODAR Foundation, for display at the PHODAR Awards Exhibitions. Ownership of the prints remains with PHODAR Foundation. These may not be sold or published without the express written permission of the entrant but may be displayed in public to promote the competition and subsequent competitions. In Between Moments 2024 Archív
30 Oct 2024

“The most perceptive photographers can make compelling pictures out of uninteresting moments.” –Alex Tehrani French novelist Georges Perec declared that we should found “an anthropology of the ordinary” as revolt against cultural and mass media exploitation of the exotic - the relentless parade of trauma elevated above the routine of everyday events. Perec’s revolt against the frenzy of trauma (the shameful, the voyeuristic and the spectacular) was to excessively document the ordinary in daily life, meticulously accounting for everything and anything in one’s immediate surroundings in an active attempt to uncover the unimportant and the insignificant. Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographic art that explores the in-between moments of life and endeavors to notice the unnoticeable, the mundane, the banal and anti-climactic. "In giving value to the ordinary we, in turn, begin to value the space of our own identity and everyday ‘normal’ experience that lies outside of commodified and predefined trajectories of trauma exploitation.” All genres, capture types, black & white and color, traditional and non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission. Curated By: Praxis Directors Prizes: Up to 38 images will be selected by the juror for exhibition at Praxis Gallery. A Directors’ Choice and five Honorable Mentions will be awarded and featured in the exhibition, the printed show catalog, and the online exhibit gallery. Directors’ Choice receives free entry into three juried calls of their choice and a complimentary exhibit book. Eligibility: International. All Welcome Copyrights & Usage Rights: Artist retains all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose photographs are accepted for exhibition grant Praxis Gallery the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital files for the purpose of the exhibition, promoting the artist, promoting related programs and subsequent display on Praxis Gallery's website, social media, and online exhibition archives. The artist's name will be included wherever the photographs are displayed. Female In Focus 2024 Archív
30 Oct 2024

In August 2024, we surveyed over 1,000 respondents from our audience. The findings reveal that, on average, the women working in the photography industry who took part in the survey earn 30% less than their male counterparts. 55% of the women had experienced gender discrimination in the workplace. Additionally, only 34% of major photography award winners have been women over the past five years. The theme of this year’s edition is Renewal, delving into the transformative process of rejuvenation and rebirth. This theme captures the essence of starting anew, whether through personal growth, environmental restoration, or societal change. Through evocative imagery, it explores the beauty and strength found in moments of revival and regeneration, highlighting the hope and possibility inherent in beginning again. This year, thanks to our partnership with Nikon, photographers can enter one portrait for free. To increase your chances, become a Full Access Member and submit up to 10 single images or one series. Magasan a legjobb - Rizsavi Tamás fotókiállítás Archív
30 Oct 2024

Rizsavi Tamás kétszer is elnyerte a közönségdíjat a "Magyarország 365" elnevezésű fotópályázaton, amelynek immáron a zsűrijében foglal helyet. Az eredetileg mozdonyvezetőként dolgozó fotográfus pályája legelején csupán a hazai mozdonyokról szeretett volna egy fotósorozatot készíteni, azonban egyedi látásmódja mára hazánk egyik legnépszerűbb fotográfusává, Magyarország képes krónikásává emelte a művészt. Idei, 100 alkotást felvonultató kiállítását most a Budavári Palotanegyedben tekinthetitek meg, a Savoyai Terasz pavilonját körbesétálva, illetve a gyönyörűen felújított Pasha Caféban.

Hogyan látják a kérdést azok, akiknek a reprezentációjáról szó lenne? Ezekről szeretnénk beszélgetni Erdei Krisztinával, Puszt Zsófiával és az Első Kézből a Hajléktalanságról program előadóival. Erdei Krisztina fotográfus és képzőművész. Doktori tanulmányait a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetemen végezte multimédia-művészet ágon.
