A dokumentarista fotográfia fogalmát járjuk körül, három kortárs fotóművész gondolatainak, fotósorozatainak tükrében. Beszélgetnek: Erdei Krisztina, fotográfus Gulyás Miklós, fotográfus, egyetemi docens (MOME) Sivák Zsófia, fotográfus Moderátor: Kolozsi Bea, fotográfus Kérdéseket a facebook eseménynél várunk! https://www.facebook.com/events/578983116700162/
Fontosabb kötetei: Magyar fotográfusnők, Enciklopédia Kiadó, 2001; Székely Aladár a művészi fényképész, Vince Kiadó, 2003; Máté Olga, PIM-Helikon Kiadó, 2006; Ady a portrévá lett arc, PIM, 2008. 2009-ben magyar fotográfusnők (1900-1945) munkáiból rendezett kiállítást Picturing progress címmel Washingtonban, a National Museum of Women in the Artsban. A Nők a kamera mögött című januárig tartó programsorozatunkon a női alkotói munkát és a női alkotással kapcsolatban felmerülő kérdéseket járjuk körül meghívott vendégeink segítségével. Regisztrálni a programra a maimano@maimano.hu e-mail címen lehet, a tárgy rovatba kérjük beírni: Tárlatvezetés – november 17. A tárlatvezetésen a látogatók a kiállításra szóló belépőjeggyel vehetnek részt. A megszokott kedvezmények ezúttal is érvényesek.

As the climate crisis deepens, environmental protest is growing around the world. Calling for more action, and more quickly than the world’s leaders are currently managing. Schoolchildren have rallied around the Greta Thunberg-inspired School Strike for Climate, Extinction Rebellion have blocked roads, highlighted some of the worst offending industries and organisations, and been arrested in their thousands. Have you been documenting this with your camera? If not yet, take a look to see where environmental protest is happening near you. This contest is expert judged only with no rating by the crowd. Landscape photography is increasingly embracing a more honest representation of the world we live in, where very little is untouched by man, and often with poor consequences. This contest invites images of landscapes that might be described as ‘polluted’. They might be more literal, as in the images of Burtynsky (https://www.edwardburtynsky.com/projects/photographs/tailings) or of litter-strewn beaches, or could be of some other way in which the natural landscape has had a harmful or poisonous substance introduced into it. All elements of entered composite image must have been shot by you. With skill and creativity, composite images can be greater than the sum of their parts. Composites are as old as photography itself, but the move to digital has made it much easier to realise one’s vision. Skill in post-production is an essential element of good digital composite work, and allows for a deeper exploration of the power of software such as Affinity Photo and Photoshop. "As a way to explore the different cultures of the world, markets are a great place to start. At stall after stall, heaped on tables, shelves and floors, you get an introduction to a culture’s cuisine, fashion, home furnishings, and more. You see the market’s visitors doing their shopping, mingling, living their lives, and it’s a place where the photographer can find images everywhere they look. " Turning the camera on oneself can be a challenge for the photographer, mired as it is in questions of self-image, ego, and one’s public persona, with technical challenges thrown in for good measure. But it’s a practise that serious artists have undertaken for many centuries, and one that doubtless rewards when time, effort and thought are applied to it. " We’re celebrating disorder, untidiness, chaos and a notable lack of feng shui in this contest. Go looking for the house with the hoarder, the alley behind the shops, the hair that hasn’t been brushed, and the building development that REALLY shouldn’t have been given planning permission. Interpret the theme as you see fit, and go easy on the not on brief button - one person’s mess is another’s just-sorted-now-time-for-a-cup-of-tea. "Trees put on a real display at this time of year, as the leaves brown and fall, and reveal the skeletons beneath. But all year round they have a story to tell. We’re becoming ever more aware of their crucial role in maintaining the health of the planet, and they also just happen to be beautiful, varied, and a joy to photograph. Any images of trees are welcome, from studies of leaves and bark, to wide, tree-dotted vistas. Every photo submitted will be available for the crowd to rate once the submissions period has ended. "Back for its fourth edition, the Portrait of Humanity award from 1854 and British Journal of Photography captures the moments that make us what we are. A tight embrace after months apart. A quiet gesture of thanks. A look that says, ‘I’ve got you.’ An exhale that says, ‘I’m home.’ Sometimes, the junctures we remember most in our lives are big. But often, humanity’s defining moments – those that transcend cultures, borders and barriers – are small.
