Grand Mobile Photo is a contest for the authors of beautiful photographs – amateur and professional photographers alike – who take digital pictures with mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The best camera is always the one that’s with you! – a famous saying by Chase Jarvis is the old adage that it is not the camera that is the most important, but rather a good eye and an intuitive sense of aesthetic taste. It reveals the truth that in these digital days every one of us can be a photographer and professional photographs can be taken both with an expensive camera and with a smartphone/tablet. So, if you have a passion for taking photos with a smartphone/tablet, do not hesitate and enter the Grand Mobile Photo contest! Fees: Paid Prizes: Prizes in Grand Mobile Photo From among all the submitted photographs, we will select one Grand Prix winning photo. Its author will receive the main prize of EUR 3,000. Whenever color appears in a photograph, color becomes an essential element of the image. When used well, color can coalesce with the other elements of the image to create an atmosphere, an emotional response, a sense of place. When bold color is used in bold ways, the result becomes a celebration of light. For this exhibit, we seek images that effectively use color, whether to enhance the image in subtle ways, or to create a bold color statement that is the centerpiece of the image. All capture methods and processes are welcome. We are very pleased that Jeff Curto will be jurying and curating this exhibition. He will select approximately 35 images for exhibition in the gallery, and 40 for our Online Gallery. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition print catalog and remain permanently on our website, with links to photographer’s URL. Prizes: 35 images selected for exhibition in the gallery, and 40 for our Online Gallery. All 75 selected images will be reproduced in the exhibition print catalog and remain permanently on our website, with links to photographer’s URL. Should your work be accepted by the juror, you grant PhotoPlace Gallery the specific right to reproduce your image in the exhibition catalog, on the PhotoPlace Gallery website*, on social media, and, where appropriate, to help promote other PhotoPlace Gallery exhibitions. The exhibition is hosted by the Unconventional Computing Lab (UWE Bristol UK) and FUNGAR and COGITOR H2020 FET OPEN projects. Αποκάλυψη translates as a revelation of God’s will about the end of the world. Before the modern era, ‘apocalypse’ meant doomsday. Post-modern meaning was shifted to the imminent existence of life shaped by disasters. In fiction, the apocalypse relates to the collapse of civilisation caused by wars, climate changes, earthquakes, pandemics. An apocalyptic event reverses civilisation control over nature into the civilisation under the control of nature. The domains of science and engineering that will adapt to a post-apocalyptic world are those whose status was marginal in the former civilisation. Chair: Andy Adamatzky (UK) Curator: Irina Petrova (UK), Advisers: Alessandro Chiolerio (Italy), Phil Ayres (Denmark), Konrad Szacilowski (Poland), Anna Nikolaidou (UK) Prizes: Three winners will get prize as follows: 1st Place: Three Amazon vouchers £50 each 2nd Place: Two Amazon vouchers £50 each 3rd Place: One Amazon voucher £50 Selected photographs of artworks will be exhibited at the virtual exhibition open to general public presented at the “Post-Apocalyptic Computing” Workshop included in the book “Post-Apocalyptic Computing” (World Scientific, 2023). We encourage provocative art works at the edge of arts, science, philosophy, engineering. Eligibility: We are open to all points of view, all levels of expertise, and all ideas.
