Architecture by its nature has many examples of symmetry on display, and when photographing architecture a strong approach can be to seek out that symmetry and to represent it. This can be either in a straight way that produces a near-symmetrical image itself, or in less obvious ways that play with the symmetrical subject. Either approach is welcomed in this contest, but underlying each image must be architecture or architectural detail that displays symmetry itself. Statues - carved or cast figures of people or animals, especially ones that are life-size or larger - and monuments - statues, buildings, or other structures erected to commemorate a notable person or event - adorn our town and city centres, our village squares, our mueums, and very occasionally our beaches (see above!) They often immortalise the past, and the characters and actions that formed it, and there is ever increasing scrutiny on some of the subjects of these statues and monuments, with their lives being reassessed in the light of modern day perspectives and morality. Entry is now open for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2022. Open to all, it is the leading international competition, and celebrates and promotes the very best in contemporary photography. For the second year, the exhibition will take place at the arts hub Cromwell Place, London from 27 October – 18 December 2022, while the National Portrait Gallery building in St Martin’s Place is closed until 2023 for major redevelopment works. All images will be viewed by a panel of judges and the entrants who are successful in this round will be invited to deliver their work to a venue in London for the final round of physical judging. This year, for the first time, we are making an appeal to you. We are in total support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine and they need assistance. KLPA will pledge to donate 100% of all net entry fees from the 2022 open call to support the humanitarian needs of the millions of displaced Ukrainians who are desperately seeking shelter, clothes, and food. Therefore, KLPA2022 is a unique one, where our prizemoney which is usually funded from entry fees will all go towards the cause.* Instead, we are presenting the top three winners with Canon digital cameras courtesy of KLPA, and our Top 45 finalists with an online and physical exhibition in Kuala Lumpur at the end of 2022. The 2022 theme is HUMAN/NATURE. This is to be interpreted in the widest creative, philosophical, sociological senses. There will be no open or project categories. THE POWER OF THE PORTRAIT What are the traits of being human? The central concept that human beings have an inherent cause towards a finality, as claimed by Aristotle’s teleological arguments were often challenged by later thinkers and philosophers that human behaviour is malleable and hence changeable by external influences. We ask if being human is natural and if so, what is human (as opposed to being beasts). How can we as artists and photographers depict these ‘human’ traits in our work, and in stand-alone portraits? How do we portray morality, ethics, reasoning, feelings like love, hate, envy - all basic human traits creatively and effectively. Ultimately, we are emotion-led beings that react to influences from our tradition, environment, and nature. We seek creative and meaningful stand-alone portraits in all genres : street, documentary, fine-art, conceptual etc; inspired and influenced by the theme, with accompanying titles and captions. "The aim of this competition is to show still or filmed images of wild flora, fauna, landscapes, as well as accounts supporting the conservation of habitats, species and biodiversity. "The World.Report Award|Documenting Humanity aims at a new form of social commitment through photography. The award is open to both professional and amateur photographers from all over the world. Az udvarhelyszéki Anyák Egyesülete keretén belül működő Ölbebabák Hordozós klub fotópályázatot hirdet. A szervezők minden, olyan helyes babahordozással kapcsolatos fotót várnak, Udvarhelyszéken élő családoktól, ami kifejezi az ,,Ölelésben” lenni érzést. A fotópályázat célja a babahordozás népszerűsítése, szépségeinek, meghittségének, praktikusságának a megmutatása. A pályázaton mindenki részt vehet, aki elfogadja a feltételeket és beleegyezik, hogy: - a zsűri által kiválasztott 20 minőségben és a kiírásnak megfelelő legjobb fotó nyilvános kiállításra és a többi beküldött fotóval együtt online kiállításra is kerül az egyesület honlapján, a közösségi oldalán és csoportjaiban. - A beküldő beleegyezését adja, hogy az egyesület szabadon felhasználja a későbbiekben is a fotókat, felhasználási díj fizetése nélkül a babahordozás népszerűsítése céljából. Ez azonban nem jelent kizárólagos használati jogot, a pályázók a képeikkel továbbra is szabadon rendelkeznek. - A pályázónak teljes mértékű szerzői és személyiségi jogokkal kell rendelkeznie a beadott pályamű fölött.
